re: Solar Eclipse - Is there significance to Part of Fortune conjunct Ascendant (exact to the minute) and quincunx the North Node?

A. The Part of Fortune is always conjunct the Ascendant during the New Moon or Solar Eclipse. And the Lunar Node axis is generally within a few degrees of the Ascendant, but it can be the North or South Node. By definition, the Lunar Nodes are where the Moon’s path crosses the ecliptic, so eclipses happen when the New or Full Moon is close to the Lunar Node axis.

re: Facebook - about "Putting NewsScope on FB might be a good alternative to using this homestead provider, since it takes so long to update pages." I'm not entirely sure what this means, but if it means that your column would no longer appear on Neptune Cafe, I'd beg you to not do this. I enjoy your column every week, ever since I found the site through Richard Nolle's site, but I am not on Facebook and never will be. Please don't make it so those of us that don't participate in a particular forum, however popular it might be, can't access your wonderful analyses.

A. I’ve gotten a lot of feedback on the migration of NewsScope to Facebook. For the time being, it will be both here and there. At this site, the pages take several hours every week to update, while on FB, it’s a straightforward copy and paste. The lead NewsScope piece is going up on FB on Sundays.

re: SA-PL - It's discouraging to think that US politics are going to keep getting worse until at least January 2020 with the exact Saturn-Pluto conjunction. Is there a way to dodge the bullet? Increase compassion? Any remedy?

A. As I’ve been suggesting, the placement of Ceres and Eris within the SA-PL configuration is a major clue, and refers to the empowerment of women. We’ve seen this already with the #MeToo movement, and the increasing number of women getting elected to Congress and other political and corporate offices.

re: Rodman - I have long touted Dennis Rodman as the mediator between the US and Korea, so thank you for your article about him being the unofficial ambassador. Deep down I think he was probably the real reason this summit happened, as he has been planting and sowing the seeds for nearly five years, as you pointed out.

Re: FB - I respectfully suggest Newscope not appear on Facebook, which is a proven privacy violator, and instead use a good alternative: 8 Best Facebook Alternatives With Focus On Privacy For 2018 - While most of us knew about Facebook's relentless data collection practices, Cambridge Analytica revelation has forced many of us to raise questions and look for Facebook alternatives.

A. I’ve been on Facebook for years and haven’t had any problems with privacy issues. Putting NewsScope on FB might be a good alternative to using this homestead provider, since it takes so long to update pages. There are vibrant astrology groups there, and unlike this page, it's mobile friendly.

Re: Trump – Hey, t pluto square US p mars @ 17:54 Libra for final time. I've mentioned before that I noticed this aspect first in spring of 2016 just as Trump was getting traction in the primaries and then again almost exact when he was sworn in. Again, during the Nov. 2018 election, Pluto is @19:10 Libra, hardly one degree past exact. I want to hope it means that the current gangster element in politics is over. Can you 'make my day'?

A. Good story idea, thanks...

re: Meghan - Duchess of Sussex .. About her Part of Fortune. Your article uses the Part of Fortune using the day chart formula, hence 17 ish deg Virgo. But her natal chart is nocturnal, Sun is below horizon...My software therefore gives her PoF as 1Ge 23" ? I thought it was standard practice to use the PoF formula based on whether the chart is day/night .

A. Yes, I always use the daytime formula. I've written an extensive article (published in Dell Horoscope magazine) explaining why this is the way to go. It’s an analysis of ten presidents and how the Part of Fortune is a key indicator in their elections and general good or bad fortunes.
SolarFire used to have the default Part of Fortune set to the daylight formula, but after Rob Hand’s research into ancient astrology (which I don’t agree with), the SF default was switched to day and night time formulas. You have the option of making the default the daytime formula for all birth times.
This is further explained in my article on Joan Quigley and the Part of Fortune. It was also published in Dell Horoscope magazine and re-posted on my website here.

re: Trump’s SR - Are you sure that he'll be in Washington when the Solar Return happens? Did you try it out in Singapore??

A. Solar Returns are set for the residence, not the point where one happens to be on the globe at the time. The notion that one can enhance their SR prospects by being at a particularly lucky place during the SR is fake news perpetuated by dishonest astrologers seeking to make a buck.

re: Kennedy - Since you're so good at analyzing the Kennedy clan, I thought I'd see something about the recently released "Chappaquiddick" film in your column. (Did I miss it?)
After watching the film, I looked up the charts of Ted Kennedy, his wife Joan, and Mary Jo Kopechne (the passenger who drown -- actually, she suffocated -- in his car on that fateful night of July 18, 1969). What's really interesting is that ALL THREE OF THEM HAD THE PROGRESSED MOON CONJUNCT SATURN!

A. You're referring to an article I wrote on the Kennedy clan for Dell Horoscope magazine, maybe 10 years ago. I haven't really kept up on their comings and goings. That's fascinating that the three people involved all have progressed Moon-Saturn, tragic event not only for them but for the nation.
Maybe there's a new bunch of Kennedys on the horizon who can escape the Kennedy curse.

Re: The Big One - Referring to " the big one" do you mean an earthquake in Hawaii or California? I will be in Los Angeles with my daughter on May 29th, her birthday. Do you think we'll be safe there?

A. I was referring to Kiluaea in Hawaii. I think you'll be fine in Los Angeles. In my research, major earthquakes happen during outer planet alignments, and we don't have any now. The outer planets have some kind of gravitational or electro-magnetic influence that the smaller and faster moving planets dont. It may relate to sunspot activity, solar flares...

re: Giuliani Some amazing connections between the charts of Trump and Giuliani might be profitably explored in Newscope. Thanks for your continuing Newscope service.

re: Trump - Thank you for your positive posting about Trump. For all the same reasons as everyone else, I can’t stand the guy. But I do also acknowledge that he alone has gotten the Korea situation where it is today and I appreciate your willingness to acknowledge that and also get an insight into the astrology behind it. Thanks also for the posting on Avenatti. I love the guy!

re: Russia - yes, this week's column was very interesting starting with the Russian chart. It seems they had an astrologer's advice since the Sun is at the MC, Jupiter is in the 10th, and Pluto is strong in Scorpio in the 2nd house of values.
Since the Russian Sun is conjunct trump's Sun, they certainty have a friend in him. It's disconcerting that Russia's natal Mars inconjuncts the U.S. ascendant, exactly, and Russia's natal Eris is conjunct the U.S. progressed MC this year.

re: Kim Jong Un - I'm baffled by Kim's sudden attitude and policy reversals. After years of posturing, bullying, and threatening the world with nuclear annihilation, now he's transformed himself into a rational human being? It seems unlikely. Can we trust the transformation? Is it a ruse? If not, how and why did it occur? Is it permanent? So many questions... Can you give us some insight?

A. As I suggest in 4/30 blog, it may be due in large part to the fear that Trump will actually start a nuclear exchange with North Korea. Trump is just crazy enough to do that, or so it seems.

re: Uranius Just curious: is there a degree of orb associated with the upcoming Uranus into Taurus. My husband’s Asc is 3 deg. Wasn't sure how to read that, or if I need to. My Sag Asc at 0 is quincunx; is that going to be troublesome?

A. There’s an old astro-proverb that says Mars arrives ahead of time, Uranus on time, and Saturn is late. This refers to when the influence manifests, and Uranus is unusual in that it’s most evident when the aspect is exact. So your husband may feel it coming, but nothing happens yet. You may be more in line for some changes with this transit.

re: profile nomination - Tammie Jo Shults! The lady who piloted the Southwest plane, my newest hero. I nominate her for a profile.

A. Thanks for the excellent suggestion. However, all I could find about her birth date is that she was likely born in 1962 in New Mexico.

re: Uranus - You mentioned that astrologers are a bit worried about how the Uranus-Taurus influence may affect Wall Street. Remember, Roosevelt confiscated all personally-owned gold in 1933 and took control of the production of the silver mines in 1934 when Uranus entered Taurus!
I faithfully read your weekly analysis of the prominent news items, but I do have a very hard time accepting "asteroidology", even though I fully understand that everything under the sun is in a constant state of evolution!
Please inform me of your response to my gold-silver price/value scenario for the next few years.

A. I don’t have any astrological insights about how the gold market will shape up over the next few years. It’s interesting that FDR had some connection with gold and silver the last time Uranus entered Taurus. Is this a coincidence, or what happened during the previous cycle?

re: China - I've seen somewhere someone using a birth chart for China with a 1deg Aquarius rising. Which chart do you find works?

A. Yes, I use this one too. It's been on my website for years. Here's a link with the chart and other relevant info: China

re: Jeff Sessions - My inner "bad girl" wonders if you would poke into the failed "bromance" between trump and sessions? I mean, it's gotta be juicy. Thanks again for making Mondays better than ever.

re: NewsScope - This week's issue is very interesting. How on earth you decide what to discuss... It's like being at a restaurant where they have a hundred scrumptious choices on the menu.

re: Oprah - Great set of articles today, Wolfstar. Thanks! And the video choice was much appreciated!

re: Oprah - If Oprah becomes president, I hope she runs the country better than she did her school.

Astro-Event #6: the Uranus Station

In addition to the top five astro-events listed below, a sixth one is worth discussing: Uranus turning retrograde on August 7 at 2º Taurus. We associate Uranus with sudden changes, technology, innovation, and crises. We might expect increased volatility in the stock market, but Uranus also hits key points in the horoscopes of numerous political figures. Here’s a look at how the Uranus station influences Mueller’s investigation.
This tri-wheel section of Donald Trump's chart shows his natal horoscope on the inner wheel, and his progressions and transits on the middle and outer wheels, set for August 7, 2018. Watch and see how transits activate an underlying progressed configuration.
Mueller himself (August 7, 1944) turns 74 on the day that Uranus turns retrograde. More importantly, Uranus forms an exact trine to his natal Jupiter at 2º Virgo. The Jupiter-Uranus connection is often prominent when an individual makes headline news. The instant celebrity status arrives under Jupiter-Uranus contacts, and this favorable link indicates exciting, fascinating developments in his investigation. Over the coming months, transiting Saturn in Capricorn will also be trine his Jupiter, bringing practical results.

Michael Cohen (August 25, 1966) is and will continue to be a headline news maker since his progressed Jupiter is at 2º Leo and his progressed Mars is at 2º Virgo. Paul Manafort’s progressed Venus at 2º Cancer puts him up front as well, but with transiting Saturn opposite his progressed Venus, “follow the money” will be the main focus. Trump’s chart is the main concern, and he has a major configuration being activated.
Trump was born with a tight Jupiter-Uranus trine, so he naturally takes to the limelight, and enjoys making headline news every day. His natal Uranus at 17º Gemini has been under pressure for several years by an octile from his progressed Saturn at 2º Leo, pitting his radical independence against the traditional political system. As it happens, transiting Uranus’ retrograde station activates this underlying configuration, ensuring that the clash between established authority (Saturn) and his feisty independence (Uranus) is reaching a high voltage situation.
August’s Top Five Astro-Events

1. The Solar Eclipse in Leo arrives on the 11th when we can expect some high political drama since it conjoins Pallas, (the political spin asteroid), and a retrograde Mercury. A major scandal is likely unfolding, with these planets closely aspecting Neptune. The chart set in Washington DC features a crisis-oriented Uranus at the Midheaven, which squares a Mars-Lilith conjunction. But with Uranus trine Saturn, the institutional framework remains intact and functioning well.

2. Saturn and Uranus are trine all month as Saturn heads into its direct station in early September. These two outer planets are in the practical Earth signs of Capricorn and Taurus, where they’ve been building a solid economy, and facilitating long term business and professional plans. Those with prominent planets at 1º-3º of any sign are particularly favored to prosper now. Take profits, buy and sell, make your best deal – especially after Mercury turns direct.
3. Mercury turns direct on the 19th when communications get back on track, tech fixes kick in, and sincerity returns. With Mercury in Leo and beneficially sextile Venus for the rest of the month, this is a good time to be creative, especially in writing and art-related projects. Romantic getaways are favored, and idealism is running high. Think good thoughts to create good outcomes. Business partnerships and other alliances can be helpful toward achieving your personal goals. All negotiations are favored.

4. Jupiter trines Neptune on the 19th, a potential “good luck” indicator in effect from the 10th through 24th. Traditionally, these two planets are associated with religious and spiritual faith, and their harmonious interaction favors getting your material existence in harmony with your beliefs. Intuition is keen now; follow your hunches, your inner knowing. Meditations centered on your third eye can bring startling insights. For some, playing the lottery or taking on other speculative ventures could bring a big payoff.

5. Mars turns direct on the 27th in the last degrees of Capricorn, marking an important turning point in business and professional interests. With Mars in a long-term square to Uranus, business as usual can’t be expected, but you can see the course ahead now and make appropriate shifts. Mars is also favorably trine Ceres for the next three months, smoothing out work-related transitions. The next few months are especially favorable for shared activities with parents and/or children.
The NYSE’s progressed Uranus, representing the booming economy’s leading edge in technology, has been bolstered by its contact with several other placements in this chart. These include the natal Mercury-Pluto square as well as a progressed Vesta-Jupiter conjunction at 23º Scorpio. In itself, this progressed Vesta-Jupiter combination is extraordinarily bullish, so we can expect that the tech drop-off is only temporary. However, in the month preceding the November election, a progressed Vesta-Uranus square becomes exact, indicating a return to major volatility.
Astrologically, the NYSE chart (May 17, 1792; 10:10 am; New York, NY) is the best way to see these events and where they might lead. The primary indicator for tech companies is Uranus, while investments in general may be associated with the asteroid Vesta. Looking at the conditions around natal and progressed Vesta holds the key to why the tech sell-off arrived last week.

Naturally, the primary drivers were the two major astro-events of the week, Mercury’s retrograde station at 23º Leo and the Lunar Eclipse at 4º Leo. Vesta is all about what we hold sacred, and in our material world, the most sacred object of worship is our investments. The NYSE natal Vesta is at 4º Leo – exactly where the volatile Lunar Eclipse took place (orb: 0º07’). Mercury turned retrograde while precisely conjunct progressed Uranus at 23º Leo (orb: 0º10’).
Tech Takes a Dive

The headline business news last Thursday was Facebook’s stunning $120 billion loss following its earnings report, the largest one-day loss in market value by any company in U.S. stock market history. Other tech companies took a dive in sympathy with Facebook, including Twitter which fell 21% on Friday. The day before Facebook’s crash, the tech-heavy Nasdaq hit a record high of 7930.
