re: U.S. progressed MC - In the September astro-events, #5 mentions what happened during the last two challenging aspects. So what happened when the progressed MC was conjunct Saturn? or semi-square Saturn?
A. I looked at the conjunction. It was in 1837 and for the first time the Senate had to select the Vice President. It was a major test of the constitution.
re: US progressed Mercury - thanks for the encouraging progressed Mercury station aspecting Juno. I'm more hopeful now that Hillary will win
A. In the U.S. chart Juno and Chiron oppose each other. That means progressed Mercury is also sextile Chiron. The Juno in Libra opposite Chiron in Aries represents the candidates' emphasis on "We're in this together " vs. "I'm the only one who can fix the system." Mercury stations right around the time the debates begin, offering a forum for these polarities to play out.
re: Tim Kaine - I have followed your work for many years and especially appreciate your sharing your views on the political scene. Tim Kaine was Virginia’s lieutenant governor and then governor and I have followed his political career for some time too, as I live in Virginia.
I am delighted that Tim is Hillary’s choice for her running mate. Although I don’t know him personally, I have met him and have heard him speak a few times. He is very much who he appears to be – a really nice guy and an excellent political strategist. You would never know that his Eris is conjunct his Ascendant in Aries!
re: MO v/c - Love your articles, always so insightful. Please keep going! With that said, here's another possible article topic for you to explore: How a moon void affects the nominating process of a political convention.
The moon was void on Tuesday 3:56-8:10pm exactly the time Trump was nominated. When he and Pence formally accept the nomination tomorrow night after 6:56pm PST, the moon will be void again.
I'm seeing this as an encouraging sign for us Hillary supporters/Trump despisers. Your thoughts? Inquiring minds want to know!
A. Trump accepted the nomination at 10:20 pm when the Moon was sextile UR and square Mars... In any case, I don't buy the MO v/c thing for event charts. That's a horary technique... Don't forget that Obama took the Oath of office during a MO v/c and he got Obamacare passed.
re: Hillary overheated - As much as I’m a Trump fan, considering him a worthy “messenger” of needed change, I do also appreciate, being from NY state myself, what Hillary did for the state in the 9/11 aftermath. Your take on what was happening with Clinton sounds so “right on!” Also, you never can win trying to out-maneuver someone who’s from the Bronx using his natural tactics. re: North Korea - Based on last weeks NewsScope indicating a potential war involving the U.S. in June 2017 and this week's describing the planetary configurations effecting the North Korean leader at that same time it seems those two may match and it would be North Korea the U.S. ends up at war.

A. Yes, the progressed Venus cycle was in full play at that time, being conjunct not only Pluto but the progressed Ascendant. Also, progressed mars was making a rare octile to the Midheaven. A transiting Saturn-Uranus conjunction in the U.S. 7th house of "open enemies" was squaring the U.S. Moon. Transiting Mars kicked this configuration off by opposing the U.S. Saturn.

re: election - Like millions of other people in the United States I am devastated by Trump's election success. Hillary could still take the White House if on Dec. 19, 2017 when the electoral college votes enough members vote against a Trump presidency. I understand this has never happened in our history. However I looked at the planets on Dec. 19th and the Sun is opposite Trump's Sun and Mercury turns retrograde on that day. My question to you is: Do you think there is a possibility that could actually happen? Your time and efforts in fulfilling my request are greatly appreciated. re: war in 2017 - I have been wondering about it since 2008. A lot of astrologers were able to foresee the economic impact of 2008 and compared it to 1929. At the time, I felt that the economic downturn of 1929-32 staged the WWII around 1939. Financial downturns damage human lives. The result of a downturn, or the "fix" of financial downturn is a major cause for war, when the people see that wealth is re-distributed unfairly. However, no astrologer has given any clue of a major war after 2008, until I see your articles on 2017.

Russian Hackers Influenced the U.S. Election
Last week in a closed-door meeting, the CIA met with some key senators to present their shocking findings: hackers with close ties to the Russian government interfered with the U.S. presidential election to help Donald Trump win. Trump dismissed the intelligence assessment, while President Obama ordered a “full review” of Russian hacking during the campaign. The Washington Post broke the story last Friday.
These two segments of a biwheel are set for Dec. 31, 2016, and show the U.S. progressed Moon opposing natal and progressed Uranus.
NewsScope has previously described the unseemly Russian connection. For example, on October 24: “Mars in Capricorn conjoined by Pluto suggests that a much larger organization (perhaps a nation-state) was behind the incident. (note: Russia’s progressed Mars at 27º Aries is closely squaring the U.S. Pluto.)” And on August 1: “Currently, a cloud of uncertainty hangs over [Trump’s] Russian relations since transiting Neptune is exactly opposite his relocated Midheaven.”
Most significantly, on Election Day, the U.S. progressed Moon and Uranus were exactly opposite each other (orb: 0º03’), which suggested shenanigans in the voting process and a disputed or surprising outcome. This astro-view is available if and only if one uses the Scorpio Rising U.S. horoscope. Although the election result was accepted, the intelligence community is now concluding that Hillary’s loss was facilitated by Russian hackers.
The U.S. progressed Moon’s next major aspect is the opposition to natal Uranus, exact on December 31. In other words, the progressed Moon has gone from opposing progressed Uranus (at 7º04’ Gemini) on Election Day to opposing natal Uranus (8º54’ Gemini) on New Year’s Eve. Within this interval, the story begins, develops, and leads to some unexpected or shocking conclusion. Obama wants the intelligence community to report back before he leaves office, so that it cannot be buried by the incoming Trump administration.
From an Evolutionary Astrology perspective, Pruitt’s chart is dominated by his Ceres-Saturn opposition since it’s aligned with his karmic Lunar Node axis. Those with Ceres in a challenging aspect to Saturn have difficulty in the caretaking functions: of self, others -- and in the collective sense -- of the environment. Saturn tends to be a harsh nurturer, enforcing strict limits on organic, holistic growth. With transiting Uranus and Pluto forming stressful aspects to his Ceres-Saturn over the next few years, Pruitt will be a flash point for anyone who cares about our planet’s ecosystems.
Scott Pruitt was born with his Taurus Sun conjunct Black Moon Lilith and both opposing Neptune (May 9, 1968; Danville, KY; time unknown), a fixed sign combination that suggests his unwavering loyalty to the oil and gas industry. Lilith exactly opposite Neptune also alludes to his widely publicized denial of the role that fossil fuels play in global warming in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
If we take his Mercury-Mars conjunction as the lead indicators for his legal warrior stance supporting fossil fuels, he’s ready to do battle. His progressed Mars, now at 4º Cancer, is perfectly octile his natal Sun, giving him the fighting spirit to promote the Trump agenda. Over the next several months, his progressed Mercury at 23º Gemini will be opposed by transiting Saturn, pointing to the severe disapproval of this nomination.
Scott Pruitt Selected to Head EPA
“Scott Pruitt has a record of attacking the environmental protections that EPA is charged with enforcing,” said one prominent environmentalist. Pruitt has been outspoken in his criticism of the scientific consensus that the planet is warming at an alarming rate,” noted the Chicago Times. Trump’s latest cabinet selection elevates a fierce critic of the EPA to the position of the chief EPA administrator.
As the stock market hits all-time highs, financial astrologers might notice the comparison to the giddy “Roaring Twenties” just before the infamous Crash of 1929. At the time of the Crash, transiting Saturn was at 27º Sagittarius where it conjoined the Galactic Center. On April 5, 2017, Saturn turns retrograde at 27º Sagittarius. Transiting Pluto during the Crash was at 19º Cancer, and transiting Pluto will be at 19º Capricorn in March, April, and May 2017. The parallels are eerie, and disruption can be expected when the self-inflated financial world gets too far out of sync with the fundamentals.
Good Times for Billionaires
As the number of billionaires appointed to Trump’s cabinet broke all historical precedents, innumerable editorial boards and ethics experts weighed in with dire warnings. Trump tweeted back, “I want people who made a fortune!” and compared them to star athletes. And with the latest selection of yet another Goldman Sachs executive, one Trump supporter noted that the cabal against the bankers is over.
Astrologically, the business cycle is peaking, with the traditional indicators for strong economic growth – Jupiter and Saturn – in a harmonious sextile formation through this month and most of January 2017. Saturn is also favorably trine Uranus, while Jupiter is nearly opposite Uranus. Together these three outer planets make a dynamic “wedge” configuration, and correspond to economically stimulating factors that Wall Street bulls refer to as the Trump rally.
Considering the Scorpio Rising U.S. horoscope, the rise of the Plutocrats can be attributed to the progressed Ascendant in the last degree of Cancer opposing the progressed Pluto in the last degree of Capricorn. This singular astro-event in U.S. history climaxed on Election Day when transiting Mars activated the progressed Ascendant-Pluto polarity. What we see now is that the Plutocrats, the top 1% of the top 1%, have secured the key regulatory positions in government.
re: the next war - After rereading your Sept 5th and Nov 2st columns, I got the impression that our next war maybe a war within. Perhaps sparked by the S. Dakota pipeline protests? Is there any indication with whom we would be going to war with in 2017? Foreign or Domestic? If foreign, do you foresee another 911 type terrorist attack?
re: Trump - You've hinted at a lot of stuff for some time. Political commentators have as well. Do you see the Trump presidency either coming to fruition or--if it does--lasting four years? If it does not last or does not actually occur at all is some actual Other determined by the other Oath of Office--whenever that might be?
A. In my article about the ceremonial Oath of Office horoscope, I show how Trump's inauguration chart is similar to JFK's and Nixon's because all three have Part of Fortune in hard aspect to Black Moon Lilith. And we know how both JFK's and Nixon's terms ended tragically before four years...
re: Sibley U.S.chart - I use the Sibley with good results. However, that is not to say that the Scorpio Rising chart isn't valid. Different perspectives may manifest in different charts. However, I'd like to point out the perspective of a friend whose spent 50 years in NGO work all over the world.
She knows little about astrology other than her own sign. However, she has often criticized the U.S. presence in port after port where she has been. "They always have to have the biggest ships. You always know when they are around. Why can't they make a softer
footprint???!!!!"
Yes, that's a display of power, although Scorpio says to me CIA, not giant battleships. More importantly to me, given that the Rising sign is the way you are perceived by others - this international display of overwhelming size speaks to me of Jupiter.
A. I wonder how many political enthusiasts can tell the difference between a Sagittarius Ascendant and a Sun-Jupiter conjunction trine the Ascendant? When 8º Scorpio is rising, the U.S. Sun-Jupiter conjunction in Cancer trines the Ascendant, bestowing all the grandiose qualities you see in a Sadge Ascendant.
Here's another perspective about a Scorpio Ascendant besides the secrecy thing: it resonates with the 8th house, and thus capitalism. And with four planets in the 8th house, the theme is much emphasized.
In addition to the Sun-Jupiter trine the Ascendant, it does so from the 9th house. What's the difference between the Sun in the 9th house and a Sagittarius Ascendant? I asked Jeff Jawer this once, and he couldn't say.
And with four planets in the 8th house, the U.S. has become a national umbrella for the powerful corporations that dominate the planet. Yes,they leave a huge "footprint" most everywhere, especially via innovative technology (Uranus), the military (Mars), the cultural celebrities (Venus), and the banking system (Jupiter).
