You have been very helpful, and caring.

You are kind of an exceptional individual and you motivate me to collect myself, and gather the scattered scallops of my Gemini Moon.

re: Eris - Pertaining to the current Uranus/Eris conjunction, I've been wondering how this would affect me and decided to comment as it may provide insight to others going through a similar transit.
Transiting Uranus and Eris are currently making a conjunction to my natal third house Sun/Mercury conjunction, and squaring my ascendant. (Sun 23º50 Aries, Asc 24º20 Capricorn). I've been wondering how having Eris in the mix would manifest, and haven't been able to find much online to prepare. So far, what's been happening is that I've had to become a very goal-oriented, vocal, warrior advocate for my elderly mother in our broken healthcare system. Lately it seems that I am quite effective at it; it's like something powerful comes over me when I'm fighting for my mother's well-being, and all involved do as I say, and I've stopped caring what they think of me. I wonder if this is Eris' influence.
A. Yes, most astrologers aren't aware of Eris yet as a meaningful archetype since it was only discovered a few years ago. Sounds like you've got a handle on it though, doing what you're doing. It does have that warrior energy. Thank-you for your story.
re: Gary Johnson - Good article on Gary Johnson. I like him. He was Governor here in New Mexico. He did a good, solid job. There was no focus on legalizing drugs then. He only does that in his Presidential bids. He was a Republican back then who ran a successful business.
re: Flight MS804 - It occured to me when the Egyptian plane went down that perhaps it is somehow related to MH370. MH370 remains a mystery and it appears that no one has claimed responsibility for MS804 yet. Is this a long playing serial aviation terrorist?
re: U.S. progressed MC - In the September astro-events, #5 mentions what happened during the last two challenging aspects. So what happened when the progressed MC was conjunct Saturn? or semi-square Saturn?
A. I looked at the conjunction. It was in 1837 and for the first time the Senate had to select the Vice President. It was a major test of the constitution.
re: US progressed Mercury - thanks for the encouraging progressed Mercury station aspecting Juno. I'm more hopeful now that Hillary will win
A. In the U.S. chart Juno and Chiron oppose each other. That means progressed Mercury is also sextile Chiron. The Juno in Libra opposite Chiron in Aries represents the candidates' emphasis on "We're in this together " vs. "I'm the only one who can fix the system." Mercury stations right around the time the debates begin, offering a forum for these polarities to play out.
re: Tim Kaine - I have followed your work for many years and especially appreciate your sharing your views on the political scene. Tim Kaine was Virginia’s lieutenant governor and then governor and I have followed his political career for some time too, as I live in Virginia.
I am delighted that Tim is Hillary’s choice for her running mate. Although I don’t know him personally, I have met him and have heard him speak a few times. He is very much who he appears to be – a really nice guy and an excellent political strategist. You would never know that his Eris is conjunct his Ascendant in Aries!
re: MO v/c - Love your articles, always so insightful. Please keep going! With that said, here's another possible article topic for you to explore: How a moon void affects the nominating process of a political convention.
The moon was void on Tuesday 3:56-8:10pm exactly the time Trump was nominated. When he and Pence formally accept the nomination tomorrow night after 6:56pm PST, the moon will be void again.
I'm seeing this as an encouraging sign for us Hillary supporters/Trump despisers. Your thoughts? Inquiring minds want to know!
A. Trump accepted the nomination at 10:20 pm when the Moon was sextile UR and square Mars... In any case, I don't buy the MO v/c thing for event charts. That's a horary technique... Don't forget that Obama took the Oath of office during a MO v/c and he got Obamacare passed.
re: Hillary's Moon - In your May 23, 2016 issue of NewsScope you wrote: "To win the American people over, a candidate must have a strong connection with the U.S. Moon at 25º Aquarius. Hillary’s Uranus at 25º Gemini fits the bill, as does Trump’s Venus at 25º Cancer. Each of these planets describes where the candidate has exceptional influence over public opinion. For Hillary, Uranus describes her drive for equal rights. Trump’s Venus suggests his vast wealth, his economic plans, and his view on women in general." And "Both candidates have Mars in Leo which, historically, American voters have overwhelmingly favored."
Why no mention that Hillary has her Moon in Pisces? As you know, no U.S. President has had their Moon there. I believe the Election will be a lot stranger than you or any other American astrologer is now thinking.
A. Hillary is well aware of the vulnerability of her Pisces Moon, which is why she didn't open up emotionally during her nomination speech, as so many pundits thought she should to overcome the trust issue. And yes, this is a strange election. If terrorism increases dramatically over the next few months, that will certainly help Trump.
re: Hillary overheated - As much as I’m a Trump fan, considering him a worthy “messenger” of needed change, I do also appreciate, being from NY state myself, what Hillary did for the state in the 9/11 aftermath. Your take on what was happening with Clinton sounds so “right on!” Also, you never can win trying to out-maneuver someone who’s from the Bronx using his natural tactics. What perfect advice for Clinton’s continuing campaign! I, surely, hope she doesn’t read your column! Thanks once again for such quick and perfected commentary!
re: North Korea - Based on last weeks NewsScope indicating a potential war involving the U.S. in June 2017 and this week's describing the planetary configurations effecting the North Korean leader at that same time it seems those two may match and it would be North Korea the U.S. ends up at war.
re: 2017 war - Always enjoy your insights. The recent article on the forecast of war in 2017 is unsettling. Do any of the indicators point to where the conflict will originate, and then [mostly] take place? Is there a safe space to "hide out" during the conflict? And how long will the war last?
A. Sorry, I don't know the answers to any of your questions.
re: 2017 war - As always I'm appreciative of your regular column. This time, against all logic, I hope you are wrong about war in 2017. Let us pray that we all (collectively) have too much sense and practicality to do this.
A. I hope I'm wrong too.
re: 2017 war - Dear Lord, this has really upset me. I've never been to your country but I owe it and its people a lot. One has received so much from the Americans.
re: 2017 war - Speaking of explosive war indicators, were there explosive indicators occuring around December 7th, 1941?
A. Yes, the progressed Venus cycle was in full play at that time, being conjunct not only Pluto but the progressed Ascendant. Also, progressed mars was making a rare octile to the Midheaven. A transiting Saturn-Uranus conjunction in the U.S. 7th house of "open enemies" was squaring the U.S. Moon. Transiting Mars kicked this configuration off by opposing the U.S. Saturn.
re: NewsScope - Thank you as always for your amazing ability to transform the depths of astrology into something the rest of us can comprehend. Keep up the good work.
re: NewsScope - I really enjoyed your last post !! Thanks so much for your time and thanks for sharing what you do!
re: NewsScope - I look forward to your NeptuneCafe articles each week. I find it fascinating to see the correlation between astrology and world affairs. Scary stuff though.
re: Hillary - You wrote: "she attempts to match Trump’s ability to endlessly insult and criticize. " Are you kidding me?? She started her career on the panel looking into Nixon 30 second missing tape. She was fired for her rhetoric and lying and has been at it ever since. This is long before Trump came on the scene. Your above quote seems like her illness was brought on because she is trying to keep up with the mean old Trump. If she can't keep up with Trump how is she going to keep up with Iran, Iraq, Saudis, N Korea, etc???
re: NewsScope subscription - Do you still take subscriptions to your Newscope page? I should like to subscribe if the answer is in the affirmative.
A. No, I've pretty much done away with the subscription thing. It was a bit hard to manage. But you can always read NewsScope on Mondays, accompanied by the relevant graphics.
re: solar energy - what a great site to read early monday morning every week. now, as republicans take hold of everything, children and grandchildren have to worry about climate and breathing clean air !!!! So let me come to main point, what will happen to Elon Musk??? NO, solar power or no subsidies to solar so is going to bring some problems???? As always your advice goes a long way and your insight into any topic you discuss is worth reading and digesting, so please comment if you can.
re: election - Like millions of other people in the United States I am devastated by Trump's election success. Hillary could still take the White House if on Dec. 19, 2017 when the electoral college votes enough members vote against a Trump presidency. I understand this has never happened in our history. However I looked at the planets on Dec. 19th and the Sun is opposite Trump's Sun and Mercury turns retrograde on that day. My question to you is: Do you think there is a possibility that could actually happen? Your time and efforts in fulfilling my request are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your generosity in sharing your knowledge of astrology with the world.
re: election - How did astrologers go so spectacularly wrong? Every astrologer I read was wrong----and I read quite a few.. Not one predicted Trump. Also most of the polls called it wrong too.
re: election - I enjoy your website and your astrological analysis as it relates to current events. Although many Astrologers got it wrong regarding who would win the Presidency to be fair you did point out some of Hillary’s astrological challenges and I credit you for that. You also do a better than most job of keeping your personal ideology out of your analysis, something other Astrologers could learn from. Look forward to your analysis of 2017 with President Trump.
re: election - it seems it's now underlined, that the biggest picture here is the dark side of capitalism. (As far as our political elections---money in our politics for one thing.) Is this what you meant about what the astrological signs are showing us? I've always thought you were so right on about the United States having Scorpio rising by the way. And it seems really obvious now...
re: NewsScope - I always enjoy your newsletter. This week is especially potent. Thank you for your efforts.
re: Ivanka Trump - She seems to be playing a pivotal role in her father's business dealings, campaign and forming presidency. Please tell us more about her, and her relationship with her father. Is she safe? Is she trapped? Is she walking a tightrope emotionally? Does she have any control or much influence?
re: war in 2017 - I have been wondering about it since 2008. A lot of astrologers were able to foresee the economic impact of 2008 and compared it to 1929. At the time, I felt that the economic downturn of 1929-32 staged the WWII around 1939. Financial downturns damage human lives. The result of a downturn, or the "fix" of financial downturn is a major cause for war, when the people see that wealth is re-distributed unfairly. However, no astrologer has given any clue of a major war after 2008, until I see your articles on 2017.
re: election - Thank you as always for your well-written News Scope. It took me a while to watch the video at the end of your piece. Wow. I really feel powerless. The only thing I could think to do was share that link with everyone I know. I shared it in a secret group on Facebook and I emailed it to friends.
re: election - Like you and others, I didn’t expect Donald Trump to win but was pleasantly shocked! He won despite what the stars seem to imply (transiting Saturn siding up to his Moon and opposing the Sun). ... You’re always current and always on target. Thanks for your column and thanks for listening to my version.
re: Bannon - Would you consider analyzing Steve Bannon's chart? I'd love to read your insights.

Ceres and the Saturn-Pluto conjunction of 2020
Last week, Green Party candidate Jill Stein raised enough money to fund a recount in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan. These three states narrowly went to Trump but were expected to go to Hillary. The potential hacking of the voting system was brought up in a New York magazine report that quoted a cybersecurity expert -- and also several times in NewsScope before the election.
Astrologically, the election of Hillary would be going against the rising tide of conservative empowerment* associated with the approaching Saturn-Pluto conjunction of 2020. Although Saturn has yet to join Pluto in Capricorn, the influence of this important combination is already being felt in global politics. Richard Tarnas (in Cosmos & Psyche) has described this cycle as being marked by the rise of authoritarian, nationalistic impulses to protect against threatening subversive elements.
The horoscope for the one and only conjunction of Saturn and Pluto (January 12, 2020; 11:59 am; Washington DC) is unusual in that the Sun, Ceres, and Mercury are also in the mix, making a five-planet stellium in the sign of corporate and political structures. Ceres, the asteroid associated with the environment, is under immense pressure, especially if we consider that the recently discovered outer planet Eris squares the Capricorn stellium.
President-elect Trump is the American expression of the authoritarian, conservative themes that go with the Saturn-Pluto vibe. Europe has already shifted that way, with the Brexit vote and the tightening of borders to restrain the flood of Syrian refugees. The involvement of a besieged Ceres in the Saturn-Pluto chart underscores Tarnas’ view that Saturn-Pluto brings a “systematic empowerment of anti-environmental forces and policies.” Trump’s open disdain of the EPA and his appointment of fossil fuel plutocrats underscore this anti-environmental theme.
The Saturn-Pluto cycle was previously profiled here.
December’s Top Five Astro-Events
1. The Sun and Venus are octile on the 14th, and cast their romantic, sweet vibe into social affairs from the 7th through 21st. Generally fostering peace and harmony in personal relationships, this combination often prefers friendship over sex and intimacy since Venus is in the networking sign of Aquarius. Expression in social media is favored, along with meeting in small gatherings, and enjoying what life offers.
2. The Full Moon in Gemini on the 13th creates a busy phase with many projects unfolding simultaneously. The days leading up to this Full Moon are tinged by the Sun’s conjunction with Saturn and aspects to other outer planets, reminding us that the geopolitical situation is serious and carries numerous possible outcomes and scenarios. Multitasking is favored, as is getting involved in projects that transcend the immediate family dynamics.
Neptune’s hard aspects tend to drain one’s vitality, but Ventura is currently under the influence of a progressed Mars-Pluto conjunction in dramatic Leo. Mars-Pluto combinations at their best bring courage, strong persuasive power, and fascinating charisma. In December, transiting Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus will all be activating Ventura’s progressed Mars-Pluto. This dynamic configuration indicates that he’ll likely be lionized in the public arena as he promotes marijuana’s recreational, medicinal, and financial benefits.
Born with his Cancer Sun square Neptune (July 15, 1951; 3:00 am; Minneapolis, MN), Ventura has an innate inclination to use marijuana, especially since Neptune is located in the 5th house of recreational activities. His Sun also trines Ceres in sympathetic Pisces, which is found in the 10th house where it conjoins his karmic North Node. Ceres here encourages him to promote marijuana’s medicinal benefits.
With Black Moon Lilith sitting on his Gemini Ascendant, Ventura is no stranger to taboo, offbeat issues. Factor in his eccentric, highly independent Mars-Uranus conjunction – also in the 1st house – and you get a colorful character who thrives on controversy. Transiting Neptune just turned direct in his 10th house where it trines his natal Mars-Uranus and progressed Lilith, presenting an ideal window to publish his Marijuana Manifesto.
Jesse Ventura’s Marijuana Manifesto
The November 8 election was a watershed day for the cannabis industry. Legalizing marijuana was on the ballot in nine states, and eight of them passed it as transiting Neptune (the natural ruler of drugs) turned direct while trine the U.S. Scorpio Ascendant. Former WWE celebrity and Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura is now promoting his Marijuana Manifesto, which was published last week.*
4. Jupiter opposes Uranus on the 26th, an electric combination in effect from the 19th through month’s end. In itself, the Jupiter-Uranus pair encourages breaking away from tradition, but since Jupiter is also sextile Saturn, doing something different while remaining within acceptable standards may ease anxiety. Those who stick with the tried and true face rebellion and protest. Unexpected or even shocking geopolitical developments may disrupt the holiday spirit.
5. Saturn trines Uranus on the 24th, creating a supportive celestial atmosphere from the 17th through month’s end. In gatherings involving friends and/or family, the harmonious Saturn-Uranus connection welcomes the blending of generations, readily mixing the young and old. New ideas, technologies, and aspirations have an opportunity to fit in with existing structures and formats. With Mercury retrograde, make sure you check your facts.
3. Mercury turns retrograde on the 19th in the business sign of Capricorn. For the next three weeks (through January 8th), avoid making any important business decisions, signing important contracts or other documents. When shopping, make sure the gifts you buy have a solid return policy, and avoid items with prices that seem too good to be true. Expect some angry words on the 18th and 19th but choose your battles wisely.
